About the project

Free tools that show their work.

The Math of Finance exists to make one financial question at a time easier to inspect, discuss, and challenge.

Why are the calculators free?

A useful financial calculation should not require an email address or turn into a lead sale. The tools are educational, run without an account, and put the model in front of you instead of hiding it behind a form.

What does a full plan add?

These calculators aren't the same as the financial planning software we use with Smarter Way Wealth clients. They're genuinely useful for answering one question at a time—but they're far less powerful, and unlike a real plan, they don't talk to each other or to your actual accounts.

Standalone tools cannot coordinate cash flow, taxes, investments, insurance, Social Security, estate decisions, and multiple goals across time. That is a different job from answering one focused question.

Who are these tools for?

They are for anyone who wants to test an assumption, understand a tradeoff, or bring a better question into a financial conversation. The result is an illustration, not an individualized recommendation or a promise about the future.
